We got the tip via Rolling Stone [via BallerAlert] who reports:
J. Lo is working on a 10-episode series titled World of Dance. The show will be about a dance competition where the winner will take home a $1 million prize.
The show will feature solo dancers, duos, and dance crews who will complete dances in a variety of styles such as hip-hop, tap ballet, and break dancing. The first round of casting is available online and “participants can audition in one of three divisions: Juniors, for solo performers or groups up to 20 people, ages eight to 16; Upper, for solo performers or groups up to four people, ages 17 and older; and Team, for groups with five to 20 performers, ages 17 and older.”
Dancers are asked to submit a video of their routines by August 26th. The callback auditions will be happening in major cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta. The competition will go on until one group is left from each division. The judges on the panel have not been determined yet. It’s also unclear whether Lopez will be on the show or just working behind-the-scenes. The new series will be the second show on NBC that Lopez is involved with. She currently has leading role on a drama series called Shades of Blue.
